hi! i’m angela. ✨

When I was younger, I spent many of my formative years hunched over a computer, where I customized my Neopets’ pages, held unintelligible conversations on MSN Messenger, and learned more about the world through Tumblr. These interactions profoundly shaped the trajectory of my development, and consequently, I’ve thought a lot about how digital products can meaningfully impact people’s lives. As a designer, I’m interested in exploring technology’s abilities to facilitate genuine human connection, to broaden access to opportunities for underserved communities, and to champion BIPOC/marginalized voices.

I grew up amongst cornfields in South Dakota and eventually ventured out to the east coast, where I graduated from Columbia University in 2018 with a B.A. in Neuroscience & Behavior. In the past, I’ve conducted neuroscience and psychology research and taught dozens of students via organizations like America Reads and Youth for Debate. Currently, I can be found freelancing, teaching UX design students, and sniffing around bakeries in Brooklyn.

things I enjoy:

visiting art exhibits, reading about design/fashion/beauty, thinking about race/class/privilege, taking photos, listening to podcasts, sloths, wholesome comics.

currently:

︎ reading The Unreality of Memory — Elisa Gabbert
︎ listening to the Reply All podcast — Alex Goldman & PJ Vogt
